swell is an experimental chamber work for brass quintet and balloons that uses breath, pressure, and resonance as shared spatial material. Through pictorial graphic notation, open improvisatory cues, and the quasi-electroacoustic textures produced by balloons on brass, this piece confronts contemporary concert cultures with an absurdist shrug by transplanting the revelry of the rehearsal room onto the stage.
