v.1 – 10/17/2025, Nelson Fine Arts Center (FAC 233) at Arizona State University

entryway, a wooden plank with fragments of glass. viewers may step on the plank or walk around it; no sound

upon entry, a suspended copper sheet sounding sporadically to the right

suspended copper sheet, tactile transducer sending low frequencies; copper reflects the light as it warbles, ground shakes through viewers’ feet upon approach

glass and metal shards marking pathways through the space; no sound

soundless scene 1, domestic objects; no sound

soundless scene 1 approached: lamp’s power cord is cut, bulb replaced with clock face; no sound

amidst the path of metal and glass shards, a circular mirror rests with its reflective side facing upward. noise and filter sweeps, irregular time-stretched sounds of a ticking clock; volume is very quiet, positioned nearby the domestic object scene that has no sound

top view of floor mirror

domestic objects placed on a wooden platform with broken mirrors surrounding a bowl of water. deconstructed clock face and hands in bowl of water. tactile transducer attached beneath the bowl’s display frame. low frequencies rattle the display stand and create patterns in the water, distorting the clock face and spinning the hands. very loud, but draws the viewer to close to the floor to see the patterns in the water

warped time zone, deconstructed/reconstructed clocks; top clock having CD for face with extra hands attached, unaltered analog ticking by battery power. bottom clock has no face or hands, red and black wax heaping on the outer frame, transducer hidden behind the glass plate holding the wax. counterpart to floor mirror, sounds are the same with delay chains and altered filter sweeps

front view of warped time zone (opposite side containing additional clock with wax heaping inside the frame and solidified around the frozen hands)

glass shard pathway to another scene

red bucket on pedestal, slightly hovering. playing sparse, soft sounds of water

metal pipes, clock hands indicating path

soundless scene 2, shrine or altar of mirror fragments; no sound

soundless scene 2, alternate view

two cajons near the center of the space, each cajon having a tactile transducer attached beneath the seat. white tablecloth covering audio equipment, cajons facing one another

cajons receive low frequencies that are not meant to be heard by viewers’ ears, but heard and felt by the their bodies. sitting on the cajons and moving the body’s position while sitting while allow sound waves to travel farther along the spine and up to the skull. a meditative space to sit with someone or alone while the surrounding sound-space persists in its processes

that’s just me. like some of the other sculptural objects, i also make sounds. may be less interesting to interact with than the rest. verdict pending further install opportunities
